Legacy submitted yet to LEGO. That is why they decided to submit their original design to Lego Ideas. Their idea was successfully accepted and together with LEGO designer Suzuki Junya, the TRON Legacy Light Cycle was born.
LEGO Ideas Tron Legacy Light Cycles is 10.3 x 5.5 x 1.9 inches in size. Its Tron grid base measures 8 inches wide and 3 inches deep whereas the light cycles measure over 1 inch high, 6 inches long and 1 inch wide. This is a 230-piece build-able set that is separated into two bags. The first bag contains the grid base and mini-figures while the second bag contains the light cycles.
There are three mini-figures included in the set. They represent the characters Sam Flynn, Quorra and Rinzler. Also included are 2 light cycles for Sam Flynn and Rinzler that are both buildable as well as a Tron grid or display base.
The light cycle grid base is made of translucent blue light-style elements to resemble the computer-like lines as seen in the movie. This base provides attachment points for the vehicles and can be used as a display base for light cycles. Alternatively, it can also be divided into two to be able to recreate the movie chase scene and identity disc battle as well.
Lego did make a great effort in producing incredible mini-figures for Tron: Legacy and its accompanying accessory elements like their identity discs that are attached to the back of each mini-figure. Sam Flynn’s mini-figure features helmet, backpack, light suit with illuminating blue strip and a blue identity disc. His facial expressions can be changed and his helmet can be removed so you can switch it to a hair. Quorra’s mini-figure, on the other hand, has a backpack, light suit similar to Sam Flynn, a blue identity disc, and her signature sword. While the antagonist Rinzler also has a helmet, light suit with orange highlights, a backpack that accommodates two discs, and two orange identity discs. He was the only program who can actually use two discs at the same time.
Light cycles of Sam Flynn and Rinzler are almost identical having the same mini-figure seat, translucent light-style elements and power stream effects at the back of each cycle. The only difference in both light cycles is the accent color. Sam Flynn’s light cycle is blue while Rinzler’s light cycle is orange.
Flipping the box, its back showcases new Identity Disc prints with a backpack, two Light Cycles with a display base, and the three mini-figures.
Constructing the toy is not a problem because it comes with a manual. The manual elaborately details the process on how to build the toy on each page and are numbered as well. Aside from the instructions, you will also find facts about the fan designer and about the characters in the manual.
